2012 Gary S. - Acrylic
2012 Celebration of the Arts – Annual Patient Art Show & Sale
“The Chesapeake” – Inspiration & Expression
Featuring over 400 pieces of affordable art - pastels, pen and ink, charcoal, watercolors, acrylics, pottery, sculpture, and photographs created by disabled and mentally ill children, youth and adults from across Maryland under the auspices of the Maryland Department of Health & Mental Hygiene.
This project is funded by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Eastern Shore Hospital Center (ESHC) Auxiliary’s Art Show Fund.
The primary goal of this Show & Sale is to engage patients and their families in a positive, rewarding arts project. Secondly, it is a mechanism to address and reduce the stigma that revolves around mental illness and other disabilities. Lastly, this event presents an excellent opportunity to showcase the talents of our resident artists/DHMH consumers and to emphasize the benefit of arts activities in their daily lives. All proceeds from the sale of artwork benefit the patients, patient programming and/or the ESHC Activity Therapy Department.
