Emergency Prescriptions Resources
In the wake of the events that have affected Baltimore City pharmacies recently, the Maryland Department of Health(MDH) has taken steps to strengthen continuity of care for city residents.
MDH Secretary Van Mitchell has signed an executive order that, for the duration of the state of emergency enacted by Gov. Larry Hogan, enables customers to get refills for some medications have been authorized for up to 30 days. If customers bring their recent prescription bottles to any pharmacy in Baltimore City, the pharmacy will have the ability to refill prescriptions. This does not include painkillers.
Secretary Mitchell also has instructed pharmacy providers to provide daily updates to MDH about Baltimore city pharmacy locations that are currently closed because of damage from recent disruptions. Those updates will be available here
MDH also is providing instructions to Baltimore pharmacy customers who have encountered difficulty getting prescriptions filled since Monday, April 27, 2015, as a result of that day’s events. Those instructions -- which also are for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries – can be found here.
