Services > Traditional Service Model
In the traditional services model, support and care are overseen by licensed or certified provider agencies.
These agencies are licensed or certified by the DDA.
The traditional model is one of two available service models at the DDA, with the other being the
Self-Directed model. Most DDA participants are served through the traditional model, but a growing number of people have chosen the self-direction model in recent years. All participants in DDA services have the right to select the service model that is best for them.
In the traditional model, the licensed or certified provider agency takes the lead in coordinating services for individuals. This includes organizing and delivering various types of support, such as residential care, day programs, and assistive services. The agency works closely with the person receiving services and their family to create a comprehensive plan tailored to their unique needs. This model emphasizes collaboration and coordination to ensure a holistic and supportive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities.
