    Google Translate Disclaimer

    The Maryland Department of Information Technology (“DoIT”) offers translations of the content through Google Translate. Because Google Translate is an external website, DoIT does not control the quality or accuracy of translated content. All DoIT content is filtered through Google Translate which may result in unexpected and unpredictable degradation of portions of text, images and the general appearance on translated pages. Google Translate may maintain unique privacy and use policies. These policies are not controlled by DoIT and are not associated with DoIT’s privacy and use policies. After selecting a translation option, users will be notified that they are leaving DoIT’s website. Users should consult the original English content on DoIT’s website if there are any questions about the translated content.

    DoIT uses Google Translate to provide language translations of its content. Google Translate is a free, automated service that relies on data and technology to provide its translations. The Google Translate feature is provided for informational purposes only. Translations cannot be guaranteed as exact or without the inclusion of incorrect or inappropriate language. Google Translate is a third-party service and site users will be leaving DoIT to utilize translated content. As such, DoIT does not guarantee and does not accept responsibility for, the accuracy, reliability, or performance of this service nor the limitations provided by this service, such as the inability to translate specific files like PDFs and graphics (e.g. .jpgs, .gifs, etc.).

    DoIT provides Google Translate as an online tool for its users, but DoIT does not directly endorse the website or imply that it is the only solution available to users. All site visitors may choose to use alternate tools for their translation needs. Any individuals or parties that use DoIT content in translated form, whether by Google Translate or by any other translation services, do so at their own risk. DoIT is not liable for any loss or damages arising out of, or issues related to, the use of or reliance on translated content. DoIT assumes no liability for any site visitor’s activities in connection with use of the Google Translate functionality or content.

    The Google Translate service is a means by which DoIT offers translations of content and is meant solely for the convenience of non-English speaking users of the website. The translated content is provided directly and dynamically by Google; DoIT has no direct control over the translated content as it appears using this tool. Therefore, in all contexts, the English content, as directly provided by DoIT is to be held authoritative.

    INITIAL APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS


    1.  APPLICATION – A complete application form is required of all applicants.

    2.  VERIFICATION OF REGISTRATION - Include either your Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD) OR Board for the Certification of Nutrition Specialists (CNS) number.

    3.  FEES

    **ONLINE APPLICATION:- Applicants pay the one-time fee $300 (application and licensure fees.) Fees are not refundable.

    1. Select Visa or MasterCard credit card payment OR
    2. Select PAYMENT BY MAIL.  You may mail a check or money order in the amount of $300 made payable to the Maryland Board of Dietetic Practice. Your license will not be processed until payment is received.

    **PAPER APPLICATION: - Applicants mail a check or money order in the amount of $75 made payable to the Maryland Board of Dietetic Practice. (Applicants may submit the $75 application fee and $225 licensure fee at the same time.  Fees are not refundable – Make sure you meet the licensure requirements and submit a complete application if you are mailing $300.)
    Your license will not be processed until payment is received.

     

    4.  REQUIRED DOCUMENTS –Please submit all required documents via the online email link (ONLINE APPLICANTS ONLY) or mailed directly to the Board.

    -TRANSCRIPT - An official transcript from an accredited college or university of your Dietetic or Nutrition education mailed directly to the Board Office from the Registrar or the University or College.

    A)           Academic Requirements - For Licensure as a Dietitian (RD)
    A baccalaureate degree or higher from an accredited college, for the field of dietetics, including a
    minimum of 24 semester hours in the field of human nutrition, food and nutrition, dietetics, or food systems management.  Of these 24 semester hours, at least 3 semester hours shall be from each of the following areas:
    (i)   Upper-division human nutrition related to disease;
    (ii)  Upper-Division food service systems management;
    (iii) Biochemistry or physiological chemistry, or advanced normal human nutrition; and
    (iv) Food science

    (B)          Academic Requirements - For Licensure as a Nutritionist (CNS)
    A master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in nutrition sciences with (emphasis in human), food and nutrition, dietetics, community nutrition, public health nutrition, or equivalent academic training such as nutrition education and food science.


    REACTIVATION APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

    *THIS IS ONLY FOR APPLICANTS WHO HAVE PREVIOUSLEY APPLIED FOR INACTIVE STATUS AND WANT TO REACTIVATE A LICENSE.

    1.  APPLICATION – A complete application form is required of all applicants.

    2. Select PAYMENT BY MAIL.  You may mail a check or money order in the amount of $150 made payable to the Maryland Board of Dietetic Practice. Your license will not be processed until payment is received.

You must submit proof of competition of 15 continuing education units for each year your license was Inactive. You can check whether you are on Inactive Status via the Board's website at:

    Click “Verify a license.”  You can enter your last name or license number to search your status.

     

    REINSTATEMENT APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

    *If your licensed expired less than 5 years ago, you must reinstate your license to practice dietetics in Maryland. If your license expired over 5 years ago, you are considered a new applicant (See Initial Application Instructions)
