NOTICE OF CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORDS CHECK
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2015
FINGERPRINTING REQUIREMENTS
for the MD Board of Massage Therapy Examiners
All initial applicants for Massage [Licensed Massage Therapist or Registered Massage Practitioner] are required to complete a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) [includes both State and FBI checks] during the application processing phase, and before receiving a license or registration. The CHRC form, with directions, is located in the relevant Application Packet on the Board’s website.
If you are a Foreign Applicant, or Out of State Resident Applicant, please following the directions for an ‘Out of State Resident’. In accordance with Board regulations, policies and procedures, the Board will only issue a license or registration after the background check is completed.
Please DO NOT call the Board’s offices for an update on a background check. The check is completed by a separate state agency and may take up to four weeks. The Board has no control over the amount of time it takes to complete the check. If you have not received the results of the criminal history background check after thirty days, you may contact CJIS directly at 410- 764-4501.
