    The Maryland Department of Information Technology (“DoIT”) offers translations of the content through Google Translate.     CHRC CY 2020 Annual Report

    CHRC submitted its CY 2020 Annual Report to the Maryland General Assembly in March 2021. The CY 2020 Annual Report highlights the main activities and deliverables provided by the Maryland Community Health Resources Commission for CY 2020.

    CHRC Presentations at the Maryland Rural Health Association's Annual Conference

    The Community Health Resources Commission (CHRC) participated in three panels at the Maryland Rural Health Association's virtual Annual Conference​ held on October 18-19, 2020.

    The CHRC, Maryland Opioid Operational Command Center and CHRC grantee Life Energy Wellness Center gave a joint presentationabout the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on behavioral heal services and the response of government programs and the provider community. The presentation can be accessed here.

    CHRC Chair Elizabeth Chung gave a presentation on strengthening and expanding the community health worker workforce. Chair Chung's presentation can be accessed here

    The Council on Advancement of School-Based Health Centers, which is staffed by the CHRC, discussed its recommendations for preparing Maryland's school-based health centers to respond to COVID-19 and future pandemics. The presentation can be acccessed here​.​

    Local Health Improvement Coalition CHRC Grant Kick-Off Meeting

    CHRC Behavioral Health White Papers ​​

    The Maryland Community Health Resources Commission (CHRC) is partnering with Kimá Joy Taylor MD, MPH, to issue three white papers that describe how CHRC funding has increased access to needed behavioral health services for Maryland’s vulnerable populations. The first brief ​describes programs that provide evidence-based integrated behavioral health and somatic health services throughout the state. The second brief​ focuses on programs that address Substance Use Disorder and the provision of Medication-Assisted Treatment.  The third brief in the series will describe programs that assist in the re-entry for justice involved individuals with behavioral health disorders.

    A presentation​ of the findings of the first two white papers was made to the Commission by Dr. Taylor on September 12, 2017.

    Maryland Rural Health Association/​CHRC White Papers ​​


    The Maryland Rural Health Association (MRHA) and Maryland Community Health Resources Commission (CHRC) partnered to produce three white papers on CHRC-funded expansion of health services in rural communities.   
    The first white paper in the series, 'Social Determinants of Health and Vulnerable Populations in Rural Maryland,' was published in December 2016, and provides an overview of some of the key social determinants of health impacting vulnerable populations in Maryland's rural communities and to offer several examples of initiatives that are underway to address these issues directly and expand access in underserved areas. ​
    The second white paper in the series, 'Bringing Care Where it is Needed: A Rural Maryland Perspective,' was published in May 2017 and provides an overview of the difficulties in accessing health care in isolated rural communities and to show examples of current initiatives that are underway to provide health services  in non-traditional settings, outside of a clinician’s office.​
    In October  2017, the third paper of the series, 'Dental Access in Rural Maryland: Innovative Approaches to Care,'​ was released, which provides an overview of the challenges of accessing affordable dental care in isolated rural communities and examples of initiatives that increase access to dental care in vulnerable rural communities.​

    Health Officer's Round Table

    The CHRC presented to the Health Officer's Round Table on July 28, 2017​.​

    Mid-Atlantic Association of Community Health Centers 

    The CHRC was invited by the Mid-Atlantic Association of Community Health Centers (MACHC) to participate in two webinars focusing on behavioral health and dental programs.​  The first of these webinars was held on January 18, 2017 and focused on CHRC-funded programs to increase access to integrated behavioral health services. The second webinar​ was held on February 15, 2017 and focused on CHRC-funded programs to increase access to dental care. A third webinar​ was held on April 10, 2017 which focused on CHRC support of new federally qualitfied health centers.

    Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems

    The CHRC presented to the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems​ (MIEMSS) on January 19, 2017. The presentation described how CHRC grants are awarded to expand health care access for underserved communities, help to improve health outcomes, and help to reduce avoidable hospital costs.​ The presentation highlighted an innovative multi-sectoral CHRC-funded project currently being carried out by the Charles County Department of Health. ​

    The CHRC presented  to the Maryland Medicaid Advisory Committee (MMAC) on July 23, 2015. This presentation​ described how CHRC grants are designed to support the fundamental goals of the Medicaid program in terms of expanding access for underserved communities, helping to improve health outcomes, and helping to reduce avoidable hospital costs.
