Canvassing Grants

The Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities (MHHD) has been funded to provide support to jurisdictions with high rates of COVID-19 infections and whose residents need additional assistance to cope with testing, isolation, and quarantine, and vaccination-related issues.  Through a competitive grant process, community organizations received funding to:

  • Support statewide efforts to provide access to COVID-19 vaccines for all Marylanders in an equitable manner, including facilitating vaccination clinics in coordination with health provider/vaccination administration partners

  • Provide health literature and assist with scheduling vaccine appointments for individuals in hard-to-reach areas

  • Address race, age, gender, and ZIP Code-based disparities in vaccine administration through multiple strategies suited best for the community, including using "door-to-door" community canvassing, conducting small educational sessions, or other culturally sensitive and appropriate approaches.
