Medicaid Impact: Maryland Medicaid Turns 50
Beginning in September, Maryland Medicaid is commemorating 50 years of shared commitment to Maryland's most vulnerable residents through free or low-cost health coverage.
Since 1966, Maryland has been a national leader in expanding Medicaid coverage, providing high-value health care, and ensuring a health care safety net for diverse populations. Today, Maryland Medicaid serves over 1.2 million Marylanders, including more than 617,000 under 21 years of age and over 43,000 persons in need of Long-Term Services and Supports. Maryland Medicaid continues to implement additional measures to enhance participant health and quality of life, all with an eye toward delivering value-based care in Maryland.
