Coverage for Former Foster Care Children
Medicaid is expanding to cover former foster children under age 26 who left the foster care system on their 18th birthday.
Effective January 1, 2017 former foster care recipients are eligible for dental services. If you are eligible to receive this package you will receive a Member Handbook explaining your eligibility. Your dental coverage will end the day you turn 26.
Former foster care children do not have to meet income limits, they qualify because of their status as former foster care children.
If you are a former foster care child under 26 years of age, go to
www.MarylandHealthConnection.gov or call
1-855-642-8572 to apply for Medicaid.
After you submit your application, a caseworker will confirm that you were in foster care and contact you if there are any questions.
