Burial Service to Be Held for Anatomical Donors
 
BALTIMORE, MD (June 10, 2014) – A burial service will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014, at Springfield Hospital Center in Sykesville for those people who have donated their bodies to science in the state of Maryland. The interdenominational service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. across from the Patterson House. A proclamation will be presented from the office of Governor Martin O’Malley recognizing Monday, June 16, 2014, as “Anatomical Donor Appreciation Day” in Maryland.
 
Services are held each year in recognition of those donated and unclaimed bodies used by Maryland’s medical and dental education and research study programs. Families and friends of the deceased are invited to attend.
 
The services are coordinated by the State Anatomy Board and Springfield Hospital Center’s Office of Volunteer Services, and are officiated by Springfield’s clergy.
 
Directions:  I-695 to I-70 (Exit 16 - Frederick); to Exit 80 (Route 32 East) -- bear right towards Sykesville; go approximately 5 miles; turn right at the 2nd entrance to the hospital; go to the first intersection; at stop sign, turn left to entrance to Patterson House and go up the hill into the parking lot; from the parking lot, the grave site is opposite the Patterson House.
