Tax-form donations help the Cancer Fund serve Maryland
Choosing to check Line 37 when filing state returns can help family, friends and neighbors

Baltimore, MD (February 12, 2015) – This tax season, Marylanders can join the cancer fight by adding a quick checkmark when completing their state income tax forms, according to the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH). The Maryland income tax form provides state residents the opportunity to donate to the Maryland Cancer Fund, which in turn supports cancer prevention, screening and treatment programs for fellow Marylanders.

“Cancer is the second-leading cause of death in Maryland,” said DHMH Secretary
Van T. Mitchell. “Giving to the Maryland Cancer Fund is a great way to help your community.”

Taxpayers can choose to add a checkmark to Line 37 on the Maryland income tax form and can denote the amount they wish to donate. This amount will be deducted from the individual’s tax refund or added to the individual’s tax payment. All donations are tax-deductible.

The Maryland Cancer Fund provides funding for cancer prevention and screening programs. The Fund also provides funding for cancer diagnosis and treatment services for low-income Maryland residents.
