Last year, the Maryland Department of Health suspended all proposals to revise its regulations on pools and aquatic venues.  In an effort to make the process more manageable, the Department is focusing on three key areas developed with input from industry representatives: 1) Creating definitions for Critical and Major Violations; 2) Revising the permitting process for Construction, Alteration and Replacement Permits; and 3) Creating a Standardization and Auditing process for Local Health Departments.

The Department has held multiple public meetings over 2017, seeking input from the public on the development of Regualtions.  With the help of industry and local health department representatives, operators and the public the Department has drafted a consensus document which is being presented for unofficial public comment.
