ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE AND THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE

The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene supports statewide efforts to ensure that environmental health impacts do not fall disproportionately on marginalized and disenfranchised communities. 

DHMH works with the Department of the Environment (MDE) and other agencies to promote environmental justice and sustainability. 

The Commission on Environmental Justice and Sustainable Communities (CEJSC)

The CEJSC is a twenty member body that is tasked with advising State government on environmental justice and analyzing the effectiveness of State and local government laws and policies to address issues of environmental justice and sustainable communities.  For more information about the CEJSC, click here.
