The Maryland Core Violence and Injury Prevention Program within the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) is pleased to announce the release of the 2016 Maryland Violence and Injury Prevention Resource Guide. This guide was developed to highlight the scope and cost of injury in Maryland and increase recognition of the role that public health can play in preventing injuries. The guide covers 11 topics: Alcohol and Injury, All-Terrain Vehicle Safety, Distracted Driving, Falls, Home fires, Intimate Partner Violence, Motorcycles, Prescription Drug Overdose, Teen driver safety and Traumatic Brain Injury. Each topic of the guide covers national and Maryland data, proposed solutions for addressing the topic and Maryland-focused resources. This guide was developed to provide DHMH, state partners, community-based organizations, decision-makers and the public with valuable data and resources to promote a safer and injury free Maryland for all of its citizens.
