Regional Advisory Committees (RAC)

The Regional Advisory Committees (RAC), in partnership with the Maryland AIDS Administration, reviews and shares information and make recommendations for HIV/AIDS care and prevention priorities in Maryland. Input from the community is vital to the work the AIDS Administration supports statewide.

Previously, this planning process was done by two separate groups: the prevention focused Regional Work Groups and the health services focused Consortia. Merging these groups reflects the linkages between HIV prevention and care, maximizes resources, eliminates duplication of effort, and allows for broader dialogue about HIV prevention and care issues.

The Regional Advisory Committees are located in each of the five Maryland regions (Central, Eastern, Southern, Suburban, Western).

The feedback received during the RAC meetings assists the AIDS Administration in developing, implementing programs and procedures that are effective, efficient, culturally sensitive, and relevant to the community. In addition, the RAC provides an opportunity for community members interested in HIV/AIDS to network.
