Obtaining Newborn Metabolic Screen Results

1. Your office will be contacted regarding abnormal results needing follow-up by a member of the Newborn Metabolic Screening  Follow-Up Program. If you have any questions, regarding abnormal results, please contact one of us:

2. If your office submitted the baby’s specimen you will receive normal results by mail. If you do not receive a report within 3 weeks after submission of the specimen, please call the Newborn Screening Laboratory at 443-681-3900.
3. If you want a copy of a newborn screen for a specimen that was not submitted by your office, please send a fax to:

443-681-4505 on your fax cover sheet with the following information:

Baby’s Name
Mother’s Name
Date of Birth
Name of Birth Hospital
Statement indicating your office is now primary medical
Provider for the baby
