Healthy moms, healthy families, healthier communities
The Maternal and Child Health Bureau's mission is to promote and improve the health and well-being of women, children and families to reduce inequities and improve outcomes in Maryland. Our programs strive to strengthen and support the maternal and child health system of care to ensure the availability and accessibility of high quality preventive, primary, and specialty care services.
Programs within the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) are integrated to assure a holistic and coordinated life span approach to enhance the health of Marylanders. MCHB uses the following strategies to carry out our mission:
Build strong partnerships at the local, state, and national levels to coordinate systems of care and improve access to and delivery of health services
Fund and administer programs and initiatives to address disparities and improve maternal, and child health outcomes
Empower and educate individuals of reproductive age so they may achieve their reproductive health goals and maintain optimal health
Collect, analyze, and monitor data to to make informed decisions about public health interventions and priorities
MCHB is composed of four offices, including the
