Because Google Translate is an external website, DoIT does not control the quality or accuracy of translated content. All DoIT content is filtered through Google Translate which may result in unexpected and unpredictable degradation of portions of text, images and the general appearance on translated pages. Google Translate may maintain unique privacy and use policies. These policies are not controlled by DoIT and are not associated with DoIT’s privacy and use policies.     Spring Grove Hospital Center is a 375-bed complex that provides a broad spectrum of inpatient psychiatric services to adults and adolescents, as well as comprehensive residential psychiatric services to adults. The center is owned and operated by the State of Maryland, and is under the governance of the Mental Hygiene Administration of the Department of Health.

    We are located on a scenic 200-acre campus in Catonsville, Maryland, just outside of Baltimore.

    Fully Joint Commission accredited and CMS certified, Spring Grove has an ongoing commitment to providing psychiatric care and treatment of the highest quality. We also maintain a number of student teaching programs and serve as a popular training site for many professional school, including the University of Maryland.

    Spring Grove was founded in 1797 and is the second oldest continuously operating psychiatric hospital in the United States. We are proud of our rich history and our long tradition of meeting the mental health treatment needs of the citizens of Maryland.

    Visiting Hours are from 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.(Mon.-Fr.)  Weekend/holiday hours are from 12:30p.m. - 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.  Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult escort.  As additional special arrangements may be necessary in certain instances, we recommend that you contact the patient's social worker in advance if a visit by a minor is desired.
