    The Maryland Department of Information Technology (“DoIT”) offers translations of the content through Google Translate. Because Google Translate is an external website, DoIT does not control the quality or accuracy of translated content. All DoIT content is filtered through Google Translate which may result in unexpected and unpredictable degradation of portions of text, images and the general appearance on translated pages. Google Translate may maintain unique privacy and use policies. These policies are not controlled by DoIT and are not associated with DoIT’s privacy and use policies. After selecting a translation option, users will be notified that they are leaving DoIT’s website. Users should consult the original English content on DoIT’s website if there are any questions about the translated content.

    The Center for Cancer Prevention and Control of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene receives a cooperative agreement from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program. The purpose of this program is to increase breast and cervical cancer screening levels among uninsured, low income women statewide, to provide follow-up to diagnosis, to carry out public and professional education, to assure the quality of screening services, to monitor the cancer problem in Maryland, and to carry out evaluation of these programs. The federal legislation requires the state to provide matching funds of at least one dollar for every three dollars of federal funds. Funds under this program cannot be used to pay for treatment services.

    Who can receive these services?

    You may be eligible to receive these services if you:

    • Are 40 to 64 years old

    • Have limited income

    • Have no health insurance or insurance that does not completely pay for breast exams, mammograms, Pap tests, or follow-up testing

    • Have health insurance, but have not been able to be screened or get needed follow-up testing.

    It’s easy to find out if you are eligible. One phone call to your local program, Talbot County Health Department, 410-819-5600, is all it takes. When you call, you will need to answer some questions about yourself, like your income, age, and type of health insurance (if you have insurance).
