    Google Translate Disclaimer

    The Maryland Department of Information Technology (“DoIT”) offers translations of the content through Google Translate. Because Google Translate is an external website, DoIT does not control the quality or accuracy of translated content. All DoIT content is filtered through Google Translate which may result in unexpected and unpredictable degradation of portions of text, images and the general appearance on translated pages. Google Translate may maintain unique privacy and use policies. These policies are not controlled by DoIT and are not associated with DoIT’s privacy and use policies. After selecting a translation option, users will be notified that they are leaving DoIT’s website. Users should consult the original English content on DoIT’s website if there are any questions about the translated content.

    DoIT uses Google Translate to provide language translations of its content. Google Translate is a free, automated service that relies on data and technology to provide its translations. The Google Translate feature is provided for informational purposes only. Translations cannot be guaranteed as exact or without the inclusion of incorrect or inappropriate language. Google Translate is a third-party service and site users will be leaving DoIT to utilize translated content. As such, DoIT does not guarantee and does not accept responsibility for, the accuracy, reliability, or performance of this service nor the limitations provided by this service, such as the inability to translate specific files like PDFs and graphics (e.g. .jpgs, .gifs, etc.).

    DoIT provides Google Translate as an online tool for its users, but DoIT does not directly endorse the website or imply that it is the only solution available to users. All site visitors may choose to use alternate tools for their translation needs. Any individuals or parties that use DoIT content in translated form, whether by Google Translate or by any other translation services, do so at their own risk. DoIT is not liable for any loss or damages arising out of, or issues related to, the use of or reliance on translated content. DoIT assumes no liability for any site visitor’s activities in connection with use of the Google Translate functionality or content.

    The Google Translate service is a means by which DoIT offers translations of content and is meant solely for the convenience of non-English speaking users of the website.     MINORITY BUSINESS ENTERPRISE PROGRAM

    The mission of the Minority Business Enterprise Program (MBE) is to increase the participation of small, minority and veteran-owned businesses in the Maryland Department of Health procurement process. The program sets small, minority and veteran-owned business participation goals on contracts of $100,000.00 or more. In accordance with state laws and regulations of the program, the Maryland Department of Health has a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) participation goal of 29% and a Veteran-owned Small Business Enterprise (VSBE) participation goal of .5%.

    Under the MBE Program, we encourage the utilization of small and minority contractors in our procurement program. We recommend ways to facilitate procurement participation by small businesses. We coordinate and participate in outreach efforts that publicize our agency’s procurement opportunities. We recommend MBE participation goals on agency contracts and we monitor the participation of small, minority and veteran-owned businesses in our procurement process.

    In order to enhance the procurement and MBE Program process by maximizing opportunities for participation of small, minority and veteran-owned businesses on contracts with the Maryland Department of Health , and; to facilitate the achievement of these goals, we have established a Procurement Review Group (PRG). The PRG reviews contracts for subcontracting opportunities for small, minority and veteran-owned businesses. In addition, the MBE Program administratively monitors the contracts for compliance with the MBE Program requirements.

    The MBE Program also serves to provide information, resources and assistance to agency staff and certified small, minority and veteran-owned business enterprises in order to increase participation and create partnerships to achieve the best participation on overall MBE goals on agency contracts.

    The State of Maryland’s Minority Business Enterprise Program is nationally known and recognized. The program is designed to encourage the growth of small, minority and veteran-owned businesses, and to enhance their participation on state contracts. The Maryland Department of Health MBE Director has the role of making the program successful.

    The Director of the MBE program performs compliance reviews and monitors contracts with MBE and VSBE goals on a monthly basis. Payment verification reports are used to assist with monitoring compliance and in the final analysis to see if the prime contractor met its overall MBE goal and any sub-goals that were established for the contract. The Maryland Department of Health sponsors and attends outreach efforts to attract small, minority and veteran-owned businesses. Efforts are made to attend such events in different regions of the state. This is also considered a part of compliance and is directed by the Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs (GOMA).
