• Announcement:
  Submissions for review by the Board needs to be in the Board office by the last Thursday of the prior month before the scheduled Open Session Meeting – no exceptions.
  
  
• Licenses, Permits, and Registrations
  Processes and Criminal History Records Checks Effective 10/1/2015. All applications for initial licensure in any category to the Board will have to include a criminal records history check.

• Continuing Education Requirements for Morticians and Funeral Directors as per the COMAR Regulations are a total of 12 CEU'S per renewal cycle. 9 may be online, electronic or correspondence. Three must be "in person". One must be in pre-need law which is available in person or online through the MSFDA website.

• Use of Body Bags:
  The Board announced at their January 14th open session meeting that mortuary transport services, under the law, are required to use body bags when making removals. This includes removals made by mortuary transport companies for funeral establishments. Although the Board believes it is best practice for funeral establishments to utilize body bags when making their own removals, it is not required by law.
