    Public Health Reporting

In order to meet the Public Health Reporting Objective for the EHR Incentive Program and/or MACRA, the Merit-based Incentive Payment System Advancing Care Information (MIPS ACI), Eligible Professionals (EPs) and Eligible Hospitals (EHs) may register for the Public Health Reporting Objective with the Maryland Department of Health (MDH).

The MDH Active Engagement process is the same for both programs. Active Engagement can be demonstrated by participation in one of the following options:

    Active Engagement Options
    Completed Registration to Submit Data
Provider has successfully registered their intent to initiate submission of electronic data for this measure in the appropriate format.
    Testing and Validation
Provider has successfully performed at least one test of the certified EHR technology's capability to submit electronic data in the appropriate format.
    Production
    Data submission is in production.

Links are provided at the bottom of the page to start the Active Engagement process.
Note that a single registration is sufficient (there is no need to re-register each reporting period) for the duration of the program. Similarly, a single exclusion letter is valid for the duration of the program.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) provide additional guidance for the Public Health Reporting Objective here.
