How Is Medicaid Changing in 2014?
There are many new ways to apply for Medicaid for people under 65.

Before you start the application, have dates of birth, social security numbers, and immigration numbers (if you aren’t a U.S. citizen) easily accessible for each person who needs health coverage.

If you are found eligible between October 1, 2013 and January 31, 2014, your coverage will start on January 1, 2014.

People who need Medicaid do not have to wait for open enrollment or when they have a qualifying life event to apply. They will be able to apply for Medicaid year-round.
In Maryland, the Medicaid Program will expand to cover adults ages 19 to 64, whether they have children or not.

A single person can make up to $15,856 per year and qualify for Medicaid.

A family of three can make up to $26,951 per year and qualify for Medicaid.

The income limits for pregnant women and children are higher than for adults.

To qualify for Medicaid coverage through Maryland Health Connection, you must be under age 65, be a U.S. citizen or a qualified alien who has lived in the U.S. for five or more years, and be a resident of the state of Maryland.
