Disease Surveillance

Program Purpose & Goal

To protect the health of our community and prevent the spread of infectious disease. Program services are supported by Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Services Offered/Provided

Talbot County Health Department monitors, investigates and reports vaccine preventable diseases as well as diseases which can be transmitted by animals/insects or humans to other humans or through the food and water supply.  Examples include hepatitis, rabies, tuberculosis, gastrointestinal, respiratory, or mosquito and tick-borne illnesses.  Program staff also provides education and consultation services about diseases and infection control measures to assist community agencies in managing disease within the populations they serve, such as schools and nursing homes.

Translation Services are available onsite & language line.
